The term money counter often brings to mind a machine that rapidly counts bills placed into the machine. Many of these machines can count, add, stack and even detect money.
Many types of businesses such as arcades, casinos, restaurants and even banks use these machines to help detect counterfeit money. They are particularly useful for companies that are handling a lot of money in a single day.
Money counters have many benefits, among these are the speed at which they can count money, eliminate accounting errors and simplify the process of money management.
You can even find money counters that are capable of handling international currencies and display their value in American dollars.
Counterfeit detectors are a built-in or attachable function that you can use with your money counter to help detect any counterfeit currency that may exist in the stack of money passing through the machine.
An alarm will go off on the machine to alert the person monitoring the machine. There are four main components to these counterfeit detectors.
The first is a magnetic detector which looks for the magnetic component that the government uses when making the currency.
A legitimate bill will have a positive response when passing through the magnetic detector and a counterfeit bill will have a negative response.
Next is a magnifying detector which allows the machine to check the micro printing in both the fine line printing and the serial numbers to find any anomalies.
Many of these areas cannot be seen with the naked eye so the machine can take a lot of time and effort out of the process by checking these areas.
Third is a UV bulb that will help check the quality of the watermark on the bill. If the watermark is weak it will signal a counterfeit bill and the alarm on the machine will go off.
Finally there is a reflector which helps check the color shifting property on the right hand side of the bill. If the color changes the bill passes through the machine with no problem. If the color stays the same the alarm signals a counterfeit bill.
